DSS Warns of Terrorist Attacks on Osun Worship Centres
The Department of State Services has alerted Muslim and Christian leaders in Osun State to an alleged plan by terrorists to attack places of worship and public gathering centres to frustrate the 2027 general elections. The DSS held separate meetings with the Muslim community and the Christian Association of Nigeria in Osogbo on Wednesday.
Religious leaders were advised to take preventive measures, including restricting strange vehicles near worship centres, avoiding night programmes and questioning unknown visitors. The intelligence report indicated terrorists planned to spread insecurity to the South-West ahead of the presidential election.
Key Points:
Worshippers and market-goers face potential risk at mass gathering centres.
Religious leaders must implement security measures to protect congregations.
Pre-election insecurity could disrupt campaigning and voter participation.
Intelligence sharing between DSS and communities is critical for prevention.
Residents should remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly.
The DSS alert underscores heightened security concerns ahead of 2027. Religious leaders and communities should cooperate with security agencies and remain vigilant.
