Cooking with gas is very common because it is fast, affordable, and convenient, but many people overlook the safety risks that come with it.

If you are using a gas cooker at home, there are three very important things you should always keep in mind to protect yourself and your family.

The first is proper ventilation. Gas stoves release carbon monoxide and other fumes that can be harmful if the kitchen is poorly ventilated.

Always ensure that windows are open or that you have an exhaust fan when cooking. This allows fresh air to circulate and reduces the risk of suffocation or poisoning.

The second point is to regularly check for leaks. Gas leaks are silent but very dangerous. Make it a habit to inspect the cylinder, hose, and regulator. If you ever smell gas, do not switch on lights or use matches.

Instead, open all windows immediately and turn off the gas supply from the cylinder. A simple soap-water test on the pipe connections can also help detect leaks early.

Lastly, always store and handle the cylinder safely. Keep it upright, away from direct sunlight or heat, and never keep flammable materials nearby. Mishandling cylinders can easily lead to explosions.

By observing these three precautions ventilation, leak checks, and safe storage you greatly reduce risks and ensure that your gas cooker remains a safe and reliable kitchen companion.
