Mohamed Yahya, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme, has praised Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni for focusing on health and education to move the state forward.

Yahya made the remarks in Damaturu on Tuesday after touring the 375-bed capacity maternity and child healthcare complex.

The two pillars of Governor Buni’s development agenda, investing in health and education are in line with the Sustainable Development Goals programme.

The investment in the health sector is pretty impressive and Yobe State is back on the path of development after the devastation by the insurgency, he said.

The resident representative stated that the state is catching up with the Sustainable Development Goals in a statement signed by Mamman Mohammed, the Director General of Press and Media Affairs to Governor Buni.

Previously, Governor Buni stated that his administration had begun massive reconstruction of the facilities in order to expedite the reconstruction, rehabilitation, and recovery program following the destruction caused by the Boko Haram insurgency.
Barau Offers Scholarships To Additional 870 Students

On Tuesday, the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, began the second phase of his scholarship program with 870 students from Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano (YUMSUK).

The students, chosen from Kano North Senatorial District, where the lawmaker is from, were given N20,000.

Professor Muhammad Ibn Abdullahi, Chief of Staff to the Deputy Senate President, stated during the distribution of the funds at the university’s premises that Barau conceived the scheme to support students from his constituency.

According to a statement from Senator Barau’s Media Office, the scholarship program began in August with 628 Bayero University Kano (BUK) students.

Thanks to Senator Barau, each student will receive N20,000, and every Kano North student studying in Nigeria will benefit from this scheme.” “We started in August with BUK students and are now in YUMSUK for the second phase, he explained.….CONTINUE READING>>>>>>
