Nigeria 1-1 Equatorial Guinea

Sunday’s Africa Cup of Nations Group A match between Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea in Abidjan ended in a tie despite a first-half equalizer by Victor Osimhen.

Equatorial Guinea took the lead against the run of play thanks to a well-worked goal from Iban Salvador, but the lead lasted just two minutes as Osimhen, a striker for Napoli, headed Nigeria level.

After that, the West African team had the better of the chances, but Jesus Owono, the goalkeeper for Equatorial Guinea, was in excellent form and combined some poor finishing with some superb saves.

Equatorial Guinea will play Guinea-Bissau, who fell to the Ivorians 2-0 in the tournament opener on Saturday, while Nigeria will play the hosts Ivory Coast in a potentially pivotal match on Thursday.
