Femi Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, stated that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) obtained around 3.2 trillion Naira from diverse channels, but only produced 402 billion Naira during its effort to introduce new N200, N500, and N1000 notes while replacing the old ones.

“To my utter dismay the central bank collected about 3.2 trillion from customers and others the bank only printed 402 billion naira,” he said.

As reported by Channels, Falana expressed disapproval of the former central bank governor, Godwin Emefiele, for the currency redesign earlier this year, which led to a scarcity of the Naira.

In response to these troubling events, Falana took action by employing the Freedom of Information Act. He submitted a formal request to the Central Bank, seeking disclosure of the precise amount of money that had been printed.

Furthermore, Falana emphasized the significance of employing legal means to counteract corruption and acquire crucial information for safeguarding the welfare of the populace.

During the program, Falana pointed out that it goes against the federal character principle for the chairpersons of the two major anti-graft federal agencies in Nigeria, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC), to be from the same geopolitical zone.…..CONTINUE READING>>>>>>
