In an exclusive interview with POSTREPORTERS TV, Farotimi alleges that Gowon, who became Nigeria’s youngest president, once recognized the nation’s primary challenge as its ineffective use of financial resources.

Farotimi contends that during Gowon’s leadership, Nigeria faced numerous challenges, such as the lack of a national power grid, while simultaneously preparing for Festac 77, a prominent cultural event.

His statements imply that despite Nigeria’s financial capacity, there was uncertainty regarding the optimal allocation and use of funds.

Furthermore, Farotimi mentions that while Gowon was not in power during the Festac festival, his tenure saw the commencement of its planning phase.

He said, “The youngest man to ever be Nigeria’s president, Gowon, once said the only problem Nigeria has is Nigeria doesn’t know what to do with money. This was at a time when we didn’t have a national grid.
