The National Chairman of Zenith Labour Party, Dan Nwanyanwu, has revealed that he once tried to convince former President Muhammadu Buhari to come and take the Labour Party ticket and contest for president.……CONTINUE READING>>>>>>
During a recent interview with Channels Television, Dan Nwanyanwu who was the national chairman of the Labour Party between 2004 and 2014 said that he visited Buhari twice in his house in Kaduna State between 2010 and 2011, and during each of those visits, he spent not less than two hours with him.
He said that he spoke with Buhari back then every Friday after mosque until Buhari formed the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), and later had arrangements with ACN, which led to the formation of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He said that he was one of the key people that stood beside Buhari then, and that during meetings, they would take him everywhere. He said that surprisingly, when Buhari became President, he did not see him throughout the eight years he was in office.
He said, “In 2010, 2011, I visited President Buhari in his house in Kaduna twice. There was no session I had less than two hours with him one-on-one. I had to beg him to come and take this same Labour Party ticket for president. I spoke with General Buhari as he then was every Friday after mosque until he formed CPC, until later they had arrangements with ACN which brought APC.
“Osita Okechukwu, Mustapha Salihu who is now a senator, Buba Galadima, Suleman and myself, we were the key people for Buhari. When he came for a meeting, we would lead him, we would take him everywhere. Do you know I didn’t see Buhari throughout the eight years? I don’t ask for anything, but do the right thing.
