In an interview with Sahara TV, Falana emphasized the importance of accountability, stating that President Tinubu’s action signaled an acknowledgment of their duty to the nation. He further advocated for selling basic products like gas and crude oil in the national currency, the naira.

He highlighted the practice of some countries, such as those in the BRICS (Brazil, India, Russia, and South Africa), trading among themselves in their currencies. He expressed concern that Nigeria is not part of this group

In Falana’s words: “Tinubu called a meeting of all Governors and pleaded with them to spend the money and not the people. It was an admission that we hold Nigerians a duty to be accountable, that is it. I have also insisted that the basic products: gas and crude oil, be sold in naira so that we can promote our national currency.
