In an interview with Sahara TV, Falana stressed the significance of accountability, citing Tinubu’s initiative as a recognition of their national duty. He advocated for the sale of essential commodities like gas and crude oil in the national currency, the naira, drawing attention to the practice of countries like those in the BRICS group conducting trade in their own currencies. Falana expressed concern over Nigeria’s exclusion from this trading bloc.
In Falana’s words: “The president summoned a meeting of all the Governors and pleaded with them to spend the money and not the people. It was an admission that we hold Nigerians a duty to be accountable, that is it. I have also insisted that the basic products: gas and crude oil, be sold in naira so that we can promote our national currency.”
