In a recent interaction with journalists in Abuja, Shaibu highlighted the significance of delegate votes over the attendance of party bigwigs, dismissing the notion that extravagant events determine the outcome of primaries.

Shaibu stated, “Rumors of impeachment plot against me because I have expressed my constitutional right of contesting for election is a joke carried too far…consensus on how to build the party.”

He urged the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) to align with the will of the people and support his candidacy for a victorious outcome in the Edo state election, emphasizing the legitimacy of his win in the parallel PDP primary election.

Referring to the lack of zoning agreement in Edo state, Shaibu stressed the importance of fairness and inclusivity in candidate selection, advocating for unity among party members to strengthen PDP’s position.

Shaibu also criticized the conduct of the primaries that produced Asue Ighodalo, citing irregularities and lack of contestation as evident in the uniform attire worn by delegates from each local government, akin to a celebratory event rather than a competitive process.
