Charles Soludo: Asiwaju Tinubu will make the Dream of South East come True – VP Kashim Shettima

He said power supply was sinequanon to industrial revolution and that since the South East is industrially inclined, Government will make the zone work by providing adequate electricity.

The Vice President also said President Tinubu meant well for the people of the South East.

“Power is sine qua non to industrial revolution. 87 million people are living in the South East. If South East works, Nigeria will work. The little power they are getting must be sustained,” he said.

The Vice President dropped this hint in Enugu on Monday at the South East Business Roundtable organised by Nigeria Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) to flag off the Light UP Nigeria Project meant to increase power supply in Nigeria.

Also speaking at the occasion, Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Soludo, suggested that the federal government should put Gas in the Concurrent List just as the Electricity supply.

“Gas should be moved from the Exclusive List to the Concurrent List. Anambra State has abundance of Gas deposit,” he said.

Soludo pointed out that the Anambra is an infidustrial hub of the South East but that without power, they cannot do anything.

In his own contribution, Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State lamented the state of electricity distribution in the South East, pointing out that, “59% of industries in the South East are going down because of power.”

Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, while speaking at the occasion lamented that vandalism of electricity installations was an impediment to the power distribution in the South East.

He said they find it difficult to install transformers and sub stations.
