According to a post Ugezu made on his Instagram page, he alleged that “In Nigeria where clueless leaders borrow money to pay salaries, we have 109 senators”

The catalyst for Ugezu’s remarks was President Bola Tinubu’s directive to fully implement the Oronsaye report, which was disclosed yesterday.

The report entails merging, subsuming, scrapping, and relocating several government agencies, with the aim of enhancing administrative efficiency and reducing redundancy.

In response to Tinubu’s implementation of the Oronsaye report, Ugezu J Ugezu commended the move as a bold step towards salvaging the country’s governance framework.

However, he emphasized the need for further reforms, particularly in the legislative sector.

Ugezu proposed the abolition of the House of Representatives, advocating for a streamlined legislative body comprising only the Senate.

He suggested that the Senate should consist of just 18 senators, with three representatives from each geopolitical zone.

Ugezu argued that this restructuring would optimize resources and facilitate the development of vital sectors such as mechanized agriculture and infrastructure.

Drawing a comparison with the United States’ legislative system, Ugezu highlighted the disparity in the number of senators between the two countries.

While the USA has 100 senators representing 50 states, Nigeria maintains 109 senators, despite facing economic challenges.

Ugezu criticized the practice of borrowing money to pay salaries in Nigeria, highlighting the financial strain caused by maintaining a large legislative body.

He urged Nigerian leaders to prioritize accountability and fiscal responsibility, stressing the importance of making bold moves to address systemic issues.

Ugezu also expressed cautious optimism about the government’s commitment to implementing reforms, acknowledging the challenges ahead but emphasizing the potential for positive change.

He lauded the government’s initiative in starting the implementation of the Oronsaye report, expressing hope for a brighter future for Nigeria.…..CONTINUE READING>>>>>>
