Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has issued a robust response to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s recent assertion, as reported by Times of Israel, that Israel’s actions against Hamas terrorists are “no different” from the atrocities committed by Nazi leader Adolf Hitler. Netanyahu wasted no time in firing back, drawing attention to Erdogan’s controversial human rights record, including accusations of genocide against Kurds and the imprisonment of numerous journalists critical of his rule.

In a strongly worded statement, Netanyahu questioned Erdogan’s moral authority to criticize Israel, employing a phrase he has used in previous clashes with the Turkish president. He staunchly defended the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), categorizing them as the “most moral army in the world.” Netanyahu framed the conflict as a fight against Hamas-Daesh, an organization he labeled as the “most despicable and brutal” in the world. Notably, War Cabinet Minister Benny Gantz joined the chorus of condemnation against Erdogan’s remarks. Gantz, in a statement issued in both Hebrew and English, denounced Erdogan’s statements as “blatant distortions of reality” and a “desecration of the Holocaust’s memory.” Gantz emphasized the imperative nature of removing the threat posed by Hamas from the citizens of Israel, framing it as not only an existential necessity but also an unparalleled moral imperative.
